Volunteer Information:
We’d Love to Have You Join in on the Fun!

Volunteering for a WAPRO committee is a great way to get involved, learn more, and gain professional contacts. There is only a minimal time commitment that will go a long way to benefit public records practitioners throughout the state. If you are interested in adding your effort and energy to this great organization, please see the brief committee descriptions below and contact information to find out more about how you can be a part of what’s going on.

Certification Committee: Are you interested in being part of the welcome wagon for newly certified Public Records Officers? Vetting applications, approving certified courses and communicating about the program with interested members are all a part of this committee’s work.

Contact: Director Jenny Hallengren-Sawyer at jenny.hallengren-sawyer@dnr.wa.gov.

Policy and Practices Committee: Do you have ideas on additional tools and resources that may help assist those involved in public records work? If so, you are the person we are looking for!

Contact: Chair Sheila Gall at sheilag@awcnet.org.

Training Development Committee: Interested in increasing and improving the training available through WAPRO? Have a knack for planning and logistics? This may be the committee for you!

Contact: Chair Mary Perry at mary.perry@seattle.gov.

Communications Committee: Are you a news junkie, a word nerd, or a bit techie? We can always use your assistance in helping review website content, write and compile quarterly newsletters, and come up with other ideas that we can better communicate with WAPRO’s membership.

Contact: Chair Susan Haigh at haighs@ci.bonney-lake.wa.us.

If you have any interest in rolling up your sleeves and being a part of the great work WAPRO is doing, make sure to stop by our committee sign up table at the Spring Training Conference. We will have a board member there to answer any questions you might have.
