Alex Acevedo is currently the Records and Information Manager at the City of Seattle for the last 3 years. Prior to that he was the Corporate Records Manager for Symetra Life Insurance Company for 17 years.

Amanda Collins currently serves as the Public Records Officer for Intercity Transit in Thurston County. She is an active member of ARMA’s Public Transit Discussion Group and incoming President of ARMA’s Greater Seattle Chapter. Amanda is a Certified Public Records Officer, serves on the Executive Board of the Washington Association of Public Records Officers (WAPRO), and stays involved in her local Toastmasters International club, Stately Speakers, in Olympia. She also co‑chairs the Washington State Transit Association’s Clerks Committee, supporting records professionals across Washington’s transit agencies.

Morgan Damerow serves as a Consultant for the Office of the Attorney General’s (AGO) Local Government Consultation Program. The LGCP provides guidance to local governments on responding to public records requests, helping to develop resources, and identify technology options related to public records. Morgan frequently provides training to local governments and speaks to conference participants. In 2022 he was appointed to serve as the AGO’s Open Government Ombuds, expanding his work to include providing information and training on the Open Public Meetings Act, and the PRA to governing bodies and the general public. He joined the AGO in 2003 and is 1997 graduate from the University of Montana, School of Law.

Melissa Drewry is a seasoned Public Records Specialist with the Office of the Attorney General. With over 13 years of specialized experience, she has built a career navigating the complexities of public records for agencies such as Office of the Attorney General, OSPI, the Washington Counties Risk Pool, and Mason County.

Now, as part of the Local Government Consultation program, Melissa transforms this multi-agency expertise into actionable empowerment. She is dedicated to equipping agencies across the state with the vital guidance and education they need to master their transparency processes with confidence, clarity, and compliance.”

Doug Mitchell is a retired Deputy Prosecutor who still practices on a contract basis as a Special DPA. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois (BS Ed., JD, Police Training Institute Basic and miscellaneous advanced courses) and Eastern Washington University (MPA). He has served as a prosecutor (in both criminal civil settings) and part-time law enforcement officer in two states. He has attended a lot of LE and attorney training such as from WAPA and WAPRO, and written training manuals and books on the intersection of legal authority and tactics for LE. For more than 10 years prior to retirement, he was in the Civil Division of the office and his biggest single assignment was PRA legal issues and as PRO for the Prosecutor’s Office.

Jeffrey S. Myers obtained his law degree from the University of Washington in 1986, after which he joined the Ecology Division of the State Attorney General’s office until 1991 where he worked on hazardous waste and water quality issues. Jeff then worked in private practice in Seattle for several years, focusing on environmental cleanup issues and real property issues. In 1995, he became a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, where he advised on land use and growth management issues. Jeff joined this firm in 1998 where his practice is now focused primarily on open government, public records, including matters arising under the Public Records Act and Open Public Meetings Act. Jeff has conducted numerous presentations and seminars on public disclosure and land use issues. Jeff also represents governmental clients in environmental, land use and real property matters, serving as the general counsel to the Olympic Region Clean Air Agency.

Michael Nigrey is the newest member of the Washington State Attorney General’s Local Government Consultation Program team. He previously served in legal roles across State and local government, including as an Assistant Attorney General to the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Vancouver, and a Civil Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Kittitas County, Washington providing representation and advice on public records compliance and a variety of other legal issues. He joined the AGO in 2022 and is a 2004 graduate from Seattle University School of Law.

Ramsey Ramerman is a deputy city attorney with the City of Everett, where he works on open government and First Amendment issues, advises the police department on records laws and works on general municipal law questions and disputes. Ramsey also advises and defends other municipalities in PRA and First Amendment litigation through his firm Ramerman Law Office PLLC.

He is one of the founders and the first President of the Washington Association of Public Records Officers and served eight years on the state Sunshine Committee. In addition, he is the co-editor-in-chief of the Second Edition of the WSBA PRA Deskbook and co-authored two chapters in the deskbook.

Prior to working for the City of Everett, Ramsey worked at Foster Pepper PLLC. Ramsey graduated with high honors from the University of Washington School of Law in 2000. “

Scott Sackett is the Principal Records Consultant with the Washington State Archives. He works with agencies of local and state government to facilitate proper retention, management, and preservation of their public records in their various forms. Scott is based at the Archives’ Central Region Branch, located in Ellensburg. He earned his Certificate in Archives and Records Management from Western Washington University, and also holds a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Seattle University. He has been a member of the Washington State Archives team since 2004.

Megan Shoemaker has worked for the Washington State Archives for over six years in archives and records management roles. She has also worked for the Center for Pacific Northwest Studies, Western Washington University, and the Department of State.

Jennifer Steele is Public Records Counsel for the Attorney General’s Office. As Public Records Counsel, Jennifer provides expertise to AAGs regarding client advice and litigation strategy. She advises and serves as a resource to the AGO on public records issues, provides trainings, and represents the AGO in PRA litigation involving the AGO. Jennifer has served in the AGO for over 14 years, during which she has consistently worked in the public records arena. Jennifer previously worked in the Consumer Protection and Licensing and Administrative Law divisions. Prior to joining the AGO Jennifer was a clerk at the Washington State Supreme Court. Jennifer attended Syracuse University where she was on the Women’s Varsity Rowing Team. She received her J.D. from Seattle University where, upon learning there was no rowing team, she became an editor for the Seattle Journal for Social Justice.
